Sales & Production
With 25 years of experience in the printing & stationery industry. I initially trained in the finishing department at the age of sixteen. After a year or so I transferred to the lithographic printing department working a single colour Heidelberg GTO. Within months I was promoted to the second minder on the larger 4 colour Heidelberg MOV. As I proved my capabilities I took over as number one minder a few weeks later and held this position for about eight years.
At this time I saw the introduction of the Apple Mac computers and decided this was the future. With my previously gained computer knowledge from school and experience on the printing press, I had a unique insight, I understood colour processes, how to lay down work for finishing and I soon became fully experienced in the major DTP programmes.
I left the company for a position as production manager but due to the company closure a couple of years later, I ended up as production manager/estimator at Michael Heath Ltd in Reigate Surrey where I spent 6 years, until Michael Heath decided to retire. He sold the customer base I had built up on to Darwin Press where I now oversee this part of the company and provide technical knowledge for the rest of the business.
